Polypiù for ADDWind, a translucent skin for an innovative infill system

The development and evolution of contemporary construction is leading companies in the sector to increasingly resort to industrialisation of processes. Thanks to prefabrication, in fact, high product accuracy and quality can be guaranteed and, at the same time, greater speed and simplicity of installation on the building site.

ADDWind, the innovative system designed by Isopan, which allows the integration of a building's infill with an external skin, fits into this context.

In a single system you therefore have two functions, on the one hand the building enclosure and thermal insulation guaranteed by the wall made of the Isopan sandwich panel, and on the other hand, as well as an aid in protection from atmospheric agents, the aesthetic and architectural characterisation ensured by the cladding.

At the heart of the system is a stainless steel bracket that allows the joint between the two elements, guaranteeing the necessary resistance to loads, such as the weight of the cladding and resistance to the action of the wind.

The bracket is available in two versions, so that any type of cladding can be installed, whether the structure supporting the skin runs parallel to the development of the sandwich panels, or orthogonally to them.

Among Isopan's partners in the ADDWind project, Polypiù is responsible for the translucent skins, by virtue of its experience in the design and production of polycarbonate sheets and panels and all the accessories required for their correct assembly.

Within the Polypiù product range, the choice fell on the Reverspiù 1000/20, which, combined with the aluminium pillar and by virtue of its features, makes it a perfect match for ADDWind:

• The joint between the various polycarbonate sheets is made through the aluminium upright, which remains inside and can be anchored directly to the steel brackets, avoiding the need for an additional intermediate structure.
• On the outside, the wall is perfectly smooth and coplanar and the mullion almost disappears, covered by the polycarbonate panels.
  

• The possibility of extruding very long panels (even over 13.5 m), which, combined with the concealed joint between the various modules, makes it possible to create large façades without any visible profiles, guaranteeing total continuity of the material and clean lines.
• The translucency and light-reflecting capacity of polycarbonate, depending on the angle of incidence of light and the point of observation, can camouflage the building with its surroundings, make it diaphanous, dematerialise it or make it stand out.
• The possibility of giving a completely different image during the hours of darkness by backlighting the façade.
• The possibility of characterising the panels with different colours and finishes.

Choosing the ADDWind system also brings great advantages for the designer who, by talking to a single point of contact, is sure to find a solution that integrates all the infill and cladding functions of a building, ensuring the performance he needs and the image he desires.
